Two of the three EIC candidates received the same number of votes, resulting in a tie.
Board voted unanimously to hold special session for runoff election between Tim and Mikayla at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. Each candidate will have a change to present again.

New Business
ASWSU membership – Revisited previous discussion of board membership. Richard noted that board has three ASWSU seats, two GPSA seats and one newsroom seat. The suggestion is to reduce the ASWSU by one and increase the newsroom to two, adding the managing editor as a board member.
ASWSU representatives Sydney Berger and Ashtyn Gates agreed with the proposal.
Vote set for Thursday, Nov. 17.
Content advisor – Richard said The Daily Evergreen will be piloting a program this spring under which Student Media hires a Murrow College faculty member as content adviser for several hours a week.
Next board meeting: The next board meeting will be held a week early, on Thursday, Nov. 17, due to Thanksgiving break.

Emma gave a brief presentation on why she is applying for the position of graphics manager. The board inquired about her training in accessibility, then went into executive session at 4:21. The board voted unanimously to confirm Emma Hewitt as graphics manager, and left executive session at about 4:30.

New Business
- ASWSU membership – Richard said there is only one board position specifically allocated to the newsroom, yet three for student government. He proposed that the three positions held by ASWSU be reduced to two and the remaining one be filled by the Evergreen managing editor.
Lorena proposed that discussion be tabled until our next meeting since no ASWSU board members were present. Lorena will be sending a formal invitation to Sydney Berger, ASWSU member, to attend our next meeting.
- Archiving The Daily Evergreen electronic articles – Lorena revisited the issue of preserving electronic articles. Richard said SNO, which hosts The Daily Evergreen, will let us download all of the articles. Richard will email Lorena and Mark O’English with the details.
- The next board meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 20, a week early due to the home football game on Thursday, Oct. 27.

- Production night, Jan. 26: Four of our editors were out with COVID-19; three worked from home. The production staff came up with solutions on how to export the pages and put the paper out on time.
- Training new editors: one-on-one sessions since they have little knowledge of the software used for newspaper production
- New sections: Mint has become Culture and we created a multimedia editor.
- E-newsletter has been launched
- Podcast created and is presented every Friday
- Additional copy editor added to staff
- Adjustments have been made to the budget to accommodate the increased staff
