Who We Are

The Office of Student Media offers students rigorous real-world training in leadership, organization, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. Students supervise one another as they work together on deadlines toward a common goal. They are given extensive responsibilities, and they receive professional skills that position them for success in whatever career they choose.

The office consists of four main departments: The Daily Evergreen newsroom, Chinook yearbook, Creative, and Advertising. WSU students lead each department and hire and manage student staff from dozens of different majors.

The office is administered by the Student Media Board. Students hold 10 of the 16 voting positions on that board. A professional staff assists the students in their publications through training, advising, and keeping track of the finances, but does not control content.
